Water Polo Victoria (WPV) is the state governing body for Water Polo in Victoria. WPV is responsible for the development and education of water polo players, officials, coaches and volunteers throughout Victoria and the conduct of competitions and championships for all levels of participation, interdependently with its members and other stakeholders.
Water Polo in Victoria has vibrant and growing junior, senior and social competitions, with a number of athletes excelling nationally and internationally.

Water Polo Victoria (WPV) is on the hunt for a highly organised and motivated Referee Coordinator to manage the weekly appointments of referees, pool controllers and mentors. If you're passionate about sport, fair play, and want to support the development of officials in one of Australia’s fastest growing water sports – this is the role for you!
What You’ll Be Doing:

🔄 Coordinate Weekly Appointments:
Assign qualified and suitable referees, pool controllers, and mentors to all WPV competitions, ensuring fair and efficient coverage. -
🤝 Engage with Stakeholders:
Communicate clearly and consistently with referees, clubs and WPV staff to confirm rosters and resolve any scheduling issues. -
✅ Uphold Quality Standards:
Support and monitor officiating quality, address performance concerns, and ensure consistency in officiating. -
🚀 Support Referee Development:
Match developing referees with experienced mentors and support WPV’s referee development pathway. -
📋 Keep it Organised:
Maintain up-to-date records of appointments, availability, feedback, and provide regular reports to WPV.
What We’re Looking For (Selection Criteria):

Strong understanding of WPV By-Laws and Water Polo rules

Previous experience in refereeing, coordinating officials, or competition support

Excellent organisational and communication skills
-
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and think on your feet
-
A collaborative mindset with a strong sense of fairness and professionalism
-
WWCC or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
-
WPA referee accreditation
-
Experience with scheduling tools such as REVSport or other referee appointment systems
