Water Polo Victoria is thrilled to announce the release of our 2026 State Program Calendar! This is an exciting opportunity for athletes and coaches to be part of something truly special as we prepare for another year of competition, growth, and success. Whether you’re an aspiring athlete or a passionate coach, this is your chance to get involved and represent your state at the highest level.
Expressions of Interest Now Open
15&U & 17&U National State Championships
We are calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from athletes to join our State Teams for 2026. If you’re ready to take your skills to the next level and compete against the best, we want to hear from you!
Trials for 15&U (born 2011 and 2012) and 17&U (born 2009 and 2010) will be held in early Term 2, and athletes who are unable to attend the trials due to exceptional circumstances will be provided an opportunity to trial at a later date.
Similar to 2025, extended squads will be selected following trials, with the final teams to be announced after the June/July School Holidays following the East Coast Challenge (15&U).
13&U Development Carnival
Water Polo Victoria will once again look to send multiple teams to the 13&U Development Carnival in Hobart in 2026.
As this is a development series, the selection criteria will not be solely based on skills and ability. We will reward the athletes who attend training, listen to feedback and generally are good ambassadors for the sport of Water Polo in and out of the pool.
At this point in time, we are taking expressions of interest to decide what the program looks like and how many teams we will send to this year's series.
Athletes born 2013 and 2014 are eligible to play in this tournament, any athletes born 2015 will be permitted to train and "may" be eligible to attend the tournament depending on numbers and if exemption is granted by WPA.
More information will be sent out at a later time confirming training dates/costs etc. once we finalise the EOI's.

WPV seeking Coaches EOI's
Coaches, are you passionate about water polo and ready to inspire the next generation of athletes? We are seeking Expressions of Interest for Coaches and Assistant Coaches for our 13&U, 15&U, and 17&U State Teams. Your expertise and dedication are crucial to the success of our programs, and we’d love to have you on board.
Major Dates
The details for the National State Championships are TBC from WPA, however please see below some major dates to keep free in your calendar:
15&U and 17'&U Squad Trials - May 2nd and 3rd
13&U National Development Carnival - July 8th - 12th (Hobart)
15&U East Coast Challenge - July 3rd - 5th (MSAC)
15&U & 17&U National State Championships - TBC (T3 Holidays)
State Squad Training - TBC (Saturdays or Sundays, pending pool space)
Dates and details are subject to change, so please look out for communications from WPV in the coming months. Water Polo Victoria will also be hosting an online information session in late March/early April, so watch this space.
