Kara Dowling is a powerhouse in the Victorian Water Polo community. Having played for Richmond and the national squad along side Rowie Webster! She has been so supportive and encouraging to everyone she meets!
Kara was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2019 and has been battling hard to beat it. Friends have rallied behind her to support her and young family and created colours4kara! A fundraiser with the proceeds going towards Kara and her family as well as creating an initiative to increase awareness of cervical cancer.
"Get your balls checked ladies" is the slogan for this campaign and fits well with Kara's Water Polo background! It's estimated that there will be 913 cases of cervical cancer diagnosed in Australia in 2021. The risk of a woman being diagnosed by age 85 is 1 in 162.
