David Smyth voted in as Water Polo Victoria Life Member
Water Polo Victoria would like to formally congratulate David Smyth for being inducted as a Life Member of Victorian Water Polo at the 2023 AGM.
David has been an incredible contributor to Water Polo in Victoria for many decades, his expertise, passion and service to the sport has been clearly evident to all those within the community. Through his involvement in Water Polo, David has helped to develop and grow the game here in Victoria.
David has had a considerable impact on refereeing here in Victoria, not only through his talents poolside for various events and competitions, but through his passion and mentorship of our younger officials. The work David has done to inspire and support our young referees has undoubtledly created an environment where Water Polo can go from strength to strength in Victoria.
Some of David's achievements within, and in service for, Water Polo include:
Involvement in our domestic competitions for almost 30 years
A referee at National League/AWL for two decades
A delegate and pool controller at multiple tournaments and events
A teacher and coach at Melbourne High School, a major driver of Water Polo at the school
Organiser of officials for multiple school competitions such as AGSV/APS
A constant source of support, inspiration and motivation for our young talent in the officials pathway
On behalf of Water Polo Victoria, and the entire WPV community, we once again thank David for all he has done for the sport and congratulate him on his Life Membership.
David will be presented with his award at the 2024 AGM next year
