East Coast Challenge - Wrap Up

WPV have concluded hosting the East Coast Challenge (ECC) tournament at MSAC (29th June - 1st of July).
Teams and players from QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS descended on Melbourne for 3-days of great Water Polo competition for the 2024 version of the ECC. We saw awesome games in the pool and support in the stands throughout the tournament, the games themselves allowing players to gain experience and quality match-play in the lead-up to the National State Championships in September.
For our VIC teams participating, there were a variety of results including some incredibly tough games, some real nail-biters and some amazing wins. Ultimately, athletes were able to spend quality time with teammates and coaches, whilst playing against quality opposition.

Our VIC Navy boys' team had an incredible run in this year's ECC, making it all the way to the Final. After defeating QLD Maroon 14-10 in a tight Semi-Final, the boys faced off against a strong NSW team and ultimately finished as the runner-up following a 7-13 final match.

The ECC also provides a great opportunity for our young and emerging referees to learn off of our experienced delegates. We had great feedback from our referees in VIC who participated, and we welcomed 4 young QLD referees who enjoyed their time officiating with us at the ECC.
Thanks again to all the athletes, coaches, team managers, officials, parents/carers and supporters that made the 2024 ECC such a memorable event. See you all in 2025!
