Vic Phoenix Take to the Water!

We’re very excited that our Victorian Phoenix Water Polo AWL teams travel to Adelaide for a weekend of games and finally hit the water after many months of pre-season training.

This Friday we play games against both the Queensland Thunder and the Adelaide/Hobart Jets which will be a tough re-introduction to the Australian Water Polo League for us. The women led by Olympian Rowie Webster play at 9:45am and 6:30pm (Adelaide time) and the men play at 11:00am and 7.45pm (Adelaide time). Our games on Saturday (6:30pm W & 7:45pm M Adelaide time) and Sunday (12:30pm W & 1:45pm M Adelaide time) are being livestreamed via the AWL’s partnership with News Corp https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/live-streams/water-polo

The club is very excited to announce that due to some recent changes to the draw the short road trip to Adelaide will be followed by a series of home and away rounds including 16 games (8 men, 8 women) in Melbourne over 4 weekends.

Games will be played in Melbourne on:

5th and 6th March vs Sydney Uni

12th and 13th March vs UNSW Wests

19th and 20th March vs UTS Balmain

26th and 27th March vs Drummoyne

As a side note, entry to these games will be free for all spectators under 18 years of age.

It’s been a long time between games for a Victorian AWL team and there is much anticipation from players and fans to see top quality water polo played in Melbourne. The Victorian Phoenix relies on sponsorships and donations to be able to stay in the AWL. We’d encourage all supporters to consider becoming regular monthly donors – all donations go to running the club and are 100% tax deductible.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Gary Barclay

President Victorian Phoenix Water Polo Club
