Water Polo Victoria State Squad Trials Commence

The 2025 WPV State Program kicks off this weekend!
Water Polo Victoria is pleased to announce the formal commencement of the 2025 State Program as trials commence this weekend, May 3rd and 4th, at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC).
This represents a thrilling period for athletes, coaches, and families as the journey towards the 2025 WPA National State Championship heats up.
Our coaching team will be running these sessions to make initial squad selections for each age group. Similar to previous years for 15's and 17's, larger squads will be selected following trials, with the final teams travelling to the NSC to be selected by the coaches in July.
Water Polo Victoria will be taking 2x teams per gender in the 13&U age group. The 13&U coaches will be selecting 52 participants to attend the 2025 Development carnival taking place in Hobart in early July. Triallists who do not make the touring squads are encouraged to still join the 'train-on' squad to continue in their own development.

Please arrive 15-30 minutes prior to check in, stretch and get organised to start on time. Parents and guardians are invited to watch from the grandstand, please keep the pool deck clear for athletes, coaches and selectors.

Selectors
Water Polo Victoria will be engaging with selectors across the community, and we are pleased to share that more than 8 of our clubs will be represented on pool deck this coming weekend. The selectors will be working with the coaching team to assess athletes and to finailsie our initial WPV State Squads. You can read the WPV selection policy here.
Training
Final training calendars will be released early next week (week of Monday 5th).
TeamApp + Communications
Following announcement of the squads, parents and athletes will be invited to join TeamApp for all communications. TeamApp is the only platform we will use to communicate to athletes, this is a part of our child safeguarding policy and process.
