WPV Academy and Development Coaches confirmed! EOI for Term 2!
Calling all athletes! Express interest in Term 2 of the WPV Academy & Development Programs! Athletes involved in WPV state team programs, including the U13 Development Tournament in Hobart, are encouraged to join.
Term 2 of the Water Polo Victoria Academy will kick off from the 15th of April, and we are seeking expressions of interest today! This program enables Water Polo Victoria to support our athletes who are on the elite pathway, as well as provide extra training sessions and coaching support for all athletes as they develop their game.
Term 2 Coaching
Chloe Lim will return as lead coach with the Academy Girls, whilst Elih Mutsch will take over from Ben Adams as lead coach of the Boys Academy. Elih will continue to work with the Development athletes on Wednesday morning, and we will also be welcoming Patrick Healy to the coaching team. Patrick will coach alongside Elih with the Development group. Our High-Performance Manager, Greig Richardson (Spindles), will continue to oversee both programs, supporting our coaches and athletes.
Academy
Where: MSAC Dive Pool
When: Starting 15th of April
Schedule: 2x sessions per week. Girls Monday, Boys Tuesday, Combined Friday (finalised schedule subject to final numbers). Trials for new athletes in Week 1, returning athletes are to attend week one but will not be required to participate in trial.
Time: 5:30am to 7.00am
Coaches: Chloe Lim, Elih Mutsch and Greig (Spindles) Richardson as High-Performance Manager.
Who: Any interested athletes 13 years and older. Week 1 will include trials for new athletes.
Sessions: 21 sessions + 1x tailored ACE Performance session
Cost: $350 as per previous terms (irrespective of number of sessions attended). Once attended, individuals will be invoiced (following Week 1).
Please be advised if you are not selected in our Academy, you will be encouraged to join our development program which is held on Wednesday mornings at MSAC to continue your skill development.
WPV Development Program
This program enables Water Polo Victoria to provide younger athletes (11+) a space to continue to build their foundational Water Polo skills and develop their understanding of the game from our coaching team. We have had a great group of athletes involved in this program in 2023 and have seen all of them continue to develop their skills and knowledge. Those involved in the U13 Tournament in Hobart are encouraged to join the Development group in Term 2.
Where: MSAC Dive Pool
When: Week starting 17th of April
Schedule: 1x session per week, Wednesdays.
Time: 5:30am to 7.00am
Coaches: Elih Mutsch, Patrick Healy & Greig (Spindles) Richardson as High-Performance Manager.
Who: Any interested athletes 11 years and older (mix gendered). No trials for Development Program.
Sessions: 11 sessions. No trials needed for Development.
Cost: $180 as per previous terms (irrespective of number of sessions attended). Once attended individuals will be invoiced (following Week 1).
Once programs are finalized (following Week 1), TeamApp groups will be created for each program and athletes will be added in once confirmed as participants.
Coaching Opportunity
WPV are always on the lookout for new coaches who wish to work with our young athletes as they move along the Elite Pathway. We are seeking both regular coaches to develop and grow our athletes, but also specialist coaches who would like to come in on a part-time basis to teach our athletes about a particular area of expertise. This could be in areas such as Swimming, Goalkeeping, Strength & Conditioning, Stretching, Nutrition etc.
