CEO Update: June 2025

Updated: Jul 5

June has been a busy month for Water Polo Victoria, particularly in perpetration for an even busier July. The latest CEO report looks at the month that was, as well as what is coming up this month.

13&U Development Carnival in Hobart

Our 13&U State squad has been training for months in preparation for the 13&U Development Carnival in Hobart July 2-6. We have two girls and two boys' teams competing, and we are so proud of all our athletes and coaches! So far there have been some strong performances, great wins and a lot of learning and improvement. Ultimately, the whole VIC squad has been having an incredible time, forming new friendships and representing our state well!

A full wrap of the carnival will be shared early next week!

15&U East Coast Challenge

Similar to the 13&U cohort, our 15&U squad have been preparing for the 2025 East Coast Challenge. This tournament is hosted at MSAC from July 11-July 13, and gives our 15&U squads a chance to compete against quality opposition across the country! Come on down and cheer on the Vic Team, you can see the fixtures here.

Sport Integrity Australia will also be hosting an education session after Day 2 of competition in the Champions Room (5pm-6pm). We encourage representatives from all clubs to attend if possible, and will include Child Safeguarding, Online Safety, Reporting and other important topics. If you are interested in attending, please complete this EOI.

Senior State League and Junior Winter

We are really excited to be back in the pool for our Senior Summer State League, and our Junior Winter Round Robin, later in July! We can't wait to see you all on pool deck and jump back into Water Polo.

MSAC Outdoor pool is still closed for now, however it is coming along nicely, and we look forward to being back there in the latter half of the competition.

You can see all the fixtures here!

Women & Girls Roundtable

Thanks to all our community members who attended the Women & Girls Roundtable on the 18th of June. We had a robust discussion about the challenges and opportunities facing our sport, and many great ideas were shared as to how we can improve in areas such as retention, participant experience and performance pathways. Thanks once again for everyone's input!

WPV are now distilling the information and organising them into actionable items. We will also look to create a specific Women & Girls paper to sit alongside our Strategic Plan refresh in the back half of 2025.

World Uni Games Teams

Finally, congratulations to athletes Mimi Stoupas and Madeline Marshall for being selected in the women's WUG's team! The team will also coached by Olympic Champion Rowie Webster!

What a fantastic achievement, and a huge congratulations to Maddie, Mimi and Rowie. We wish you all the best in Germany!

See you poolside!
