Water Polo Victoria Academy Term 3- 2025

Updated: Jul 25

ree

Water Polo Victoria is now taking expressions of interest for our Academy Programs in Term 3.

Considering the heavy Term 2 for our State Squads, and the recency of the East Coast Challenge, we will delay the start of Academy until the week of July 28th.

Please take the time to read updates on our Academy and Regional Academy programs below and complete your Expression of Interest via this link here or look at our website page here.

Water Polo Victoria is pleased to also have Rowie Webster join the WPV Team as our new Performance Pathways Manager. Upon returning from coaching at the World Uni Games in Germany, Rowie will be looking after all aspects of our athlete and coaching pathways and will be supporting the WPV Academy program moving forward.

We will continue splitting athletes into Tier 1 and Tier 2, enabling a re-engagement with our U17 contingent and providing a better progression for all athletes along the pathway. Each Academy Tier will be offered the same time in the pool, follow a similar term-based program and have excellent coaching support. However, the tier split will allow both skill and age to be better matched to create the best environment for all engaging with the WPV Academy. These tiers will be combined gender.

*Tier 1: Invitational to all 2025 U17 VIC State Team participants. Top aged 15&U State Squad Athletes may also fit in this category.

Tier 2: Open to all above the age of 13 who have previously been involved in Academy + trials for brand new participants. Open to bottom aged 15&U State Squad members as well to continue building their skills!

* It is important to note that each tier is still a WPV Academy program, and that it is a development pathway by nature. Not making Tier 1, and being placed in Tier 2, will still be extremely beneficial for the athlete's development.

Saturday Academy will return in Term 4 2025.

Tier 2 Academy trials are also a possibility as well.

WPV Regional Academy (Albury/Wodonga)

The Term 3 Regional Academy will have a more advanced focus and tailor itself to experienced athletes along the pathway. Due to the colder weather and the busy Term 2, we will run Term 3 Academy as once a week, however we encourage all athletes to add extra swimming to their development.

Younger participants who just finished the 13&U State Team tour of Hobart are encouraged to continue their swimming training and building on skills learnt through Academy. Our Academy coaches can also supply younger athletes with swim-sets and advice.

In Term 4, when the weather is warmer, we will re-visit the program for these younger/developing athletes.
